2026 FIREWORK RESTRICTIONS

Due to the elevated wildfire risk throughout Utah, Governor Spencer Cox issued an Executive Order allowing local officials to further restrict fireworks in areas where conditions present a significant fire danger. After reviewing local conditions, Mayor Travis Mote and Fire Chief Van Mund have determined that fireworks will be permitted only within a limited area of Willard City from July 2–5, in accordance with state law. No fireworks will be permitted during the Pioneer Day holiday (July 22–25) due to the current fire danger. These restrictions are intended to protect our residents, homes, agricultural lands, and surrounding open spaces while allowing for a safe Independence Day celebration.

Willard Canyon Agreements

Willard Canyon is a favorite destination for residents of Willard and neighboring communities. With its steep slopes, rugged terrain, and unbeatable views, it’s one of the area’s most treasured landscapes.
In 2023, Staker Parsons expressed interest in beginning mining operations on privately owned land within Willard Canyon. Mayor Travis Mote and the City Council worked to ensure that the City’s priorities—and the community’s concerns—were addressed before any work could move forward. Click More Info to learn more about these agreements and the work moving forward in Willard Canyon.

Code Red is a notification system that uses various means to get important emergency notifications out to members of the community. Box Elder County now has this system. The system will send out calls to listed home phone lines. Many people do not have home phones and Code Red can call cell phones, send text messages, and an app is available for smartphones. Click on the Code Red logo to register your cell phone or additional numbers. Check your cell phone app store for the Code Red app. Contact the City Office if you have any questions or check out the FAQ sheet.
